Partnering for Food Systems Transformation: School Meals in Burundi
Since 2019, World Vision and the World Food Programme WFP have been working with the government of Burundi to provide Home-Grown School Meals in Muyinga Province of Burundi. This has required significant investment in increasing the resilience and production of smallholder farmer co-operatives to ensure sustainable supply to 145 schools and nearly 132,000 students with daily hot meals. Gradually, the programme is working towards being fully supplied by local farmers.

WVTL intentionally integrates livelihood and agriculture activities into nutrition-sensitive and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) programs. WVTL has piloted a nature-based solution, known as Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR), for farmers and communities to conserve water and protect land from soil degradation, improve soli fertility and regenerate degraded land.

World Vision signs $33M climate resilience project with the Government of South Sudan and UNDP
In a significant step towards climate resilience, the South Sudan Government, through the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and World Vision International South Sudan, has signed an agreement to implement the Watershed Approaches for Climate Resilience in Agro-pastoral Landscapes (WACRESS) Project.
