Heavy rain showered all over Jakarta this morning, February 21, 2017. According to the Meteorlogy, Climatology and Geophysucs Agency (BMKG), the rain is predicted to continue the next few days. This phenomenon is caused due to the relatively high temperature above the water surface in the Indian Ocean.

The National Disaster Management Agency stated long heavy rain has caused some areas all over Jakarta to flood including West Jakarta, North Jakarta, South Jakarta and East Jakarta. The National Office of WV Indonesia in Central Jakarta and Bintaro are not affected by the flood. However, Penjaringan ADP, Jatinegara ADP and some former ADPs such as Cilincing, Cawang and Kayu Putih are also affected by flood. Jatinegara ADP is most affected among the ADPs in Jakarta. 331 RCs from ADP Jatinegara who live in Cipinang Melayu are also affected.

WV Indonesia is conducting assessment while also starting the temporary Child-Friendly Space (CFS) in Cipinang Melayu sub-district. Based on the assessment, WV Indonesia is going to respond in the Borobudur University shelter. According to the data of Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), 1,035 households have been evacuated and moved to the temporary shelter.

WV Indonesia is doing response on CFS activity through mobile library and Infant Young Child Feeding (IYCF) for babies and under-five children by channeling 150 IYCF kits. The activities of Child-Friendly Space and mobile library are now running while the IYCF activity is scheduled this afternoon.
