Speakers advocate for increasing health budget for children

World Vision Bangladesh has disseminated its health budget analysis report on 7th May, 2014 in Dhaka during leading a campaign ‘Global Week of Action’ among various stakeholders including government, NGOs and media. World vision is driving this campaign in 71 countries globally to eradicate mortality of under 5 year’s children by mobilizing joint efforts from government and other key partners.

Remarking the health budget insufficient chief guest of this report sharing event H. T. Imam , the advisor of the prime-minister said, ‘The health budget is decreasing day by day. If it goes in this way, providing quality health services to children and community would be hampered gradually. So, it is essential now to increase the budget in health sector”.

In the event M. Abu Eusuf, Professor, Director, Center on Budget & Policy of Dhaka University presented the key note paper that briefed on trend analysis of country’s health budget in addition to relevant comparison with other south Asian countries.

Dr. Rabiya Khatoon, National Professional Officer, Child Health Program (WHO) and Mr. Syed Borhan Kabir, CEO of Poriprekkhit were also present as special guests. Elidon Bardhi, acting National Director, Stephen K Halder, Group Director (PREE), Chandan Z Gomes, Advocacy Director of WVB also spoke on the event.
