Elena, 64, endured 21 days of bombardment in hiding in Luhansk region. She starts her life from scratch in Dnipro, where she suffers a heart attack and faces the ongoing hardships imposed by war. World Vision's multi-purpose cash assistance, supported by Aktion Deutschland Hilft, enables her to meet her daily financial obligations, covering a part of her medical bills.

Today, April 13 marks the one month anniversary of Cyclone Pam decimating my island home of Vanuatu. Coincidentally, tomorrow will mark one year since I arrived in Vanuatu to make this beautiful country my home and join the World Vision Vanuatu team.

Carolina é mãe, uma das muitas que, no contexto de emergência, tem trabalhado para contornar a situação desafiadora em que se encontra. Aos 42 anos e com seus cinco filhos, vive na comunidade de Bata-Bata, município Humpata na Huíla. No curto tempo chuvoso que é registado no Sul, Carolina trabalha na sua pequena lavra, e no tempo seco, que é a maior parte do período sazonal, ela vai fazendo biscates para obter o que dar de comer para os seus filhos. A curta época de chuva não é suficiente para que o plantio seja próspero, e com a crise económica que vem que se agravando no país, as famílias veem os episódios de falta de comida tornarem-se cada vez mais dramáticos.
