It Takes a World to end violence against children

Wednesday, March 1, 2017

Every year a billion children experience violence. It happens in every country, city and community. It costs trillions of dollars and slows economic growth. Further, World Vision believes it is a violation of the life God desires for every child.

But it doesn’t need to be this way. There are proven solutions.

World Vision’s campaign ‘It takes a world to end violence against children’ aims to catalyse a global movement of people committed to keeping children safe from harm. Its name reflects the fact no one person, group or organisation can solve this problem alone.

Violence against children is at epidemic proportions and failure to prevent it, is akin to condoning it.

The bottom line is, children deserve better. They deserve to grow up happy, healthy, educated, loved and protected. They need safe environments to benefit from the opportunities in education, health, nutrition and livelihoods that we in World Vision are working to provide them with.

Small acts when multiplied by millions of people can transform the word. With that in mind, we ask you to support this campaign and take meaningful action to end violence against children everywhere.

President’s foreword: Confronting violence against children

"Every time I visit World Vision projects, I am taken to places where our work must address the damage done by people who inflict violence on children before we can make progress toward our development goals."
