Memories of Mosul

Thursday, November 17, 2016

Children from Mosul are reeling from two years of conflict.

One month after forces launched the battle to re-take the city, more than 50,000 people have been displaced – almost half are children under 18

At Zelican camp, 25 kilometres outside of Mosul, children who lived under ISIL say they had years of nightmares from witnessing atrocities.

In this video, they share some of their memories from the past as well as their hopes for the future.

Our team in Iraq is providing food and non-food support to 4,141 people in Zelican camp and helping children process what they have been through at our Child Friendly Space. There are currently 275 children enrolled in the Child Friendly Space activities but as more families arrive this number increases daily.

Our support for families fleeing Mosul is only the most recent support for those affected by the conflict in Iraq. In the last two years, we have helped more than 404,000 affected by this crisis.
