The Ford Motor Company, together with their affiliate dealer, Lao Ford City, recently stepped in to support local communities with clean water supplies.

The Ford Motor Company and Lao Ford City pledged a total of $25,000 USD under Ford’s Conservation and Environmental Grants programme to improve safe water sources and to reduce daily difficulties that residents face in obtaining water supply.

Ford selected World Vision International Lao PDR as this year’s grant recipient.

World Vision International Lao PDR will use the funds to supply clean water to families and schools in three villages in Phoukhoun district, Luang Prabang province.

“Ford Motor Company is supporting our work to provide water to 3 villages in Phoukhoun district. Over 2,000 people will benefit from community water tanks and a gravity-fed water system. Water is very difficult to access in the dry season. This partnership with Ford will make a big difference,” said Mr. Christopher Herrink, National Director, World Vision International Lao PDR.

“Serving communities has always been an important commitment of the Ford Motor Company and Lao Ford City. We are proud that our contribution through the Ford Conservation and Environmental Grants programme will help Lao communities in Luang Prabang,” said General Manager of Lao Ford City, Mr. Dilip Jesuthasan.

Since launching the global grants programme in 1983, Ford has awarded grants to hundreds of environmental projects in 60 countries, spanning the Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Puerto Rico.

“Ford’s legacy of caring goes back to the company’s founding and the Ford Conservation and Environmental Grants Programme is part of our commitment to build a better world, with a focus on community life, education and driver safety,” explained Mr. Jesuthasan.

In Asia Pacific alone, Ford has played a pivotal role in advancing environmental initiatives and the Conservation and Environmental Grants programme has become an annual event in markets raging from Malaysia, Hong Kong, Cambodia, Myanmar and Mongolia to Tahiti and Fiji.

Ford Motor Company says it is dedicated to preserving the environment for future generations and providing ingenious environmental solutions that contribute to a sustainable planet.

Initiatives such as Ford’s Conservation and Environmental Grants programme is evidence of a commitment to encourage support and reward the actions of individuals, groups and non-profit organizations in achieving the same goal.
