More than 750,000 people have been reached with food assistance and livelihood support since World Vision's teams started responding to the hunger crisis in southern and eastern Ethiopia.

Still, there's more work to do. World Vision continues to be concerned that:

  • 3.6 million children under 5, pregnant women and breastfeeding women are expected to be malnourished by the end of the year
  • 8.5 million people are in need of emergency food assistance
  • 10.5 million people need clean water, hygiene and sanitation support
  • More than 1 million people have been displaced

To respond, World Vision aims to provide more than one million more people with life-saving and life-changing assistance to more in the next six months.

Due to the ongoing hunger crisis, World Vision Ethiopia is requesting an additional US $14 million to reach people who urgently need assistance to access food, clean water, health care, nutrition, child protection, income and employment, shelter and education.
