To commemorate International Environment Day 2026, World Vision DRC’s Kinshasa Cluster brought together local authorities, schools, and community members in Ngandu, Kimbanseke, to promote environmental protection and climate action. Through awareness sessions, waste management demonstrations, tree-planting activities, and the distribution of waste bins to schools, the event highlighted the crucial role of children and communities in building a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future for generations to come.

In Phalombe, young women are transforming their lives through tailoring and design skills supported by World Vision Malawi in partnership with TEVETA. The initiative targets vulnerable girls at risk of school dropout, early marriage and poverty by equipping them with practical vocational skills that open doors to income and independence.

Ten-year-old Ayen walks daily to the Sobat River in Anackdiar Payam, where her family, displaced by conflict, relies on unsafe water for all basic needs. The contaminated river water especially during floods causes frequent illness, leaving Ayen often too weak to play. Her mother, Nyajuma, worries as sickness becomes routine for their children. Despite hardship, the community remains resilient but exhausted. Hope is emerging through a World Vision WASH project funded by the South Sudan Humanitarian Fund, which will provide safe water, sanitation, and hygiene services. For families like Ayen’s, access to clean water offers a chance for health, dignity, and a better future.

Nobubelo, 11, is rediscovering the joy of learning through digital education and refurbished classrooms. With improved learning spaces and access to technology, she is gaining confidence, knowledge, and new opportunities for a brighter future. Her story highlights the power of investing in education to transform children’s lives.

After leaving home for work and returning exhausted and discouraged, 16-year-old Aklima found a new path through education, family support, and a sewing machine that helped her rebuild her future.

That situation began to change after the family joined the Aleamandro Farmer Group under the Uganda Refugee Resilience Initiative (URRI) Programme and was introduced to nutrition-sensitive agriculture, a farming approach designed to address both food shortages and poor diets at the same time.

Beyond generating income, the project is providing young people with opportunities to learn, work together, and build confidence.

Members hope to begin selling pork as the herd grows and eventually establish a butchery within the settlement, creating additional employment and business opportunities.
