Missing her home village

Decca, 5, outside her family's temporary house. Decca enjoys playing with other children in the IDP camp that she recently moved to and has made many friends. She says she misses her friends from her home village, though. Decca is hoping to be a teacher in future. 

This village in Somaliland has been hosting IDPs affected by drought in the coastal areas  over the last 4 months. They are currently depending on facilities that were meant for the resident population of the village, including the health post and scarce water resources. Most families said they do not think they will be going home soon due to the loss of livelihoods. Photo by Amanda Koech
