624 Government Primary Schools receive thematic text books worth Shs 1.2bn from World Vision Uganda

World Vision Uganda is committed to improving the quality of education of 2,299,700 children in the strategic period 2016-2020, and will invest close to $35million to realise this.  A lot of this money will be invested in improving the school learning environment and supporting interventions that improve teacher effectiveness, community engagement, child participation and systems strengthening.

June this year, we are glad to hand over a consignment of education materials worth UGX 1.2billion. These materials include:

·      1800 thematic curriculum charts for PI

·      50,000 P1 math and English practice books for children

·      50,000 P2 math and English practice books for children

·      60,000 books for P4 (15,000 for each of the 4 subjects of mathematics, Science, English and Social Studies)

·      1200 black board Geometry sets

     These materials will benefit about 160,000 children in 600 schools, in the 10 districts of Kibaale, Buliisa, Ofaka, Bundibugyo, Nakasongola, Pader, Butalejja, Gulu, Busia and Tororo. The next phase will procure materials for P3 and P5, as well as local language reading materials for P1, P2 and P3. World Vision will also work with communities to produce localized reading materials and will invest UGX200 million to print 200,000 local storybooks
