CHILD PROTECTION: our collective responsibility

Thursday, February 2, 2017

As World Vision, we know that violence against children is stopping boys and girls from reaching their potential for the benefit of their families, communities and countries. Violence against children affects 1 billion children annually and comes with considerable costs for individuals and society. But in spite of challenges a permanent end to Violence Against Children is possible and feasible. As a child-focused agency World Vision is committed to protecting boys and girls from abuse, neglect, exploitation and other forms of violence, and has chosen to utilise a systems approach to the protection of children.

With its new campaign World Vision is aiming to make a significant contribution towards ending violence against children, focusing on the most vulnerable boys and girls. We strongly affirm the foundational importance of collaboration between nonformal and formal actors while developing locally owned solutions through partnerships between the families, children, communities, faith communities and government institutions, as well as applying holistic and multifaceted approaches for child protection efforts.

Let’s jointly act to positively impact the lives of hundreds of millions of the most vulnerable boys & girls, making a significant step to end violence against children as a contribution towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
