Implemented from May 2017 until the end of March 2020, “Vocational development for disadvantaged youth in Hai Phong City” project complements WVV’s existing livelihood intervention in Ngo Quyen district.

With an estimated budget of US$ 225,000, the purpose of this project is to support vocational training for disadvantaged youth aged 15-24, so that they can have a good job with stable income. This project is developed to replicate the success of a previous Korean-funded vocational training project that helped 130 disadvantaged young people in Ngo Quyen district complete vocational training and find decent job. Some with outstanding results were retained as trainers at the training institutions. Some others have established their own small businesses.

In addition, the project will award 300 scholarships to underprivileged students with good learning outcomes to encourage them to complete the vocational training, find jobs, and seize the opportunity for career development at established enterprises.

At the end of the ceremony, representatives from all participating parties expressed their hope for similar cooperation among local authorities, corporations like LG and international organizations like WVV in order to help vulnerable children and youth have equal access to social services such as education, vocational training, and job placement.

Representatives of the project funder, project implementer, and project recipient plant a tree together to commemorate the cooperation
