Hưng Yên, 18 October 2016 – Over 3,400 households in Tiên Lữ, a rural district in the northern province of Hưng Yên, will benefit from LG-funded “Mosquito-Borne Diseases Prevention Project” budgeted at US$70,000. The project will be implemented by World Vision Vietnam from October 2016 to March 2017.

The project aims at controlling mosquito-borne diseases in order to improve the health of 13,141 people including children in Trung Dũng and Lệ Xá - two poor communes of Tien Lu district. To realize this goal, the project will advance communication activities to raise local people’s awareness of the threats from mosquitos as well as promote good practices in water and environment management to eliminate the breeding grounds for mosquitos.

The kick-off workshop of the project is held at Tiên Lữ district health center with the participation of high-ranking representatives from LG Korea, LG Vietnam, World Vision Vietnam, Hưng Yên provincial leaders and Tiên Lữ district’s People’s Committee.

The Program Management Board* expresses their expectation to establish close partnership with various stakeholders -- such as hospitals, schools and community-based associations -- to effectively carry out project activities.

Also at the event, 20 LG Mosquito Away Air Conditioners are donated to Tiên Lữ district health center for later distribution to health centers at two project communes. Once installed, these air conditioners will repel mosquitos, thereby ensuring patients’ gradual recovery.

* Program Management Board is commonly comprised of 15 or more members, including Chairman or Vice Chairman of District People’s Committee and representatives of local departments, district health center, Women’s Union, Youth Union and Red Cross.
