The lives of 45.6 million people were affected when a devastating 8.0 magnitude earthquake rocked southwestern China on May 12, 2008. More than 69,000 people lost their lives and 18,000 remain missing.
World Vision’s office, close to the epicentre in Sichuan, immediately deployed assessment teams and began distributing urgently needed food, medicines, quilts and residential tents.
