New Borehole in Milange Restores Dignity and the Right to a Proper Childhood
A single borehole can change the way children experience their childhood in rural areas. 13-year-old Joana, from Milange district in Zambézia province, now has access to clean water after the construction of a new borehole. The girl will no longer have to endure a two-hour walk to collect unsafe water.
The borehole in Cadote Primary School is one of the 25 drilled in an equal number of schools in the provinces of Zambézia and Nampula, within the scope of Partnering for Sustainable Education Outcomes - PARES, funded by the McGovern-Dole International Food for Education and Child Nutrition Program of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
