The right to food is not just a fundamental human right but also a critical pillar for building healthier, stronger communities. In the face of ongoing droughts and food insecurity, World Vision Zambia remains deeply committed to ensuring that every child and family has access to nutritious meals. This year's World Food Day, celebrated in Namwala under the theme “Right to Food for a Better Life and a Better Future.”  highlights our dedication to partnering with communities and government to secure a future where no one goes hungry.

This article tells the story of how humanitarian actors, particularly those from World Vision and the WFP, managed to overcome the challenges of reaching the most vulnerable people. The story focuses on internally displaced people (IDPs), who had no access to humanitarian aid because roads were impassable for a variety of reasons. But thanks to their resilience, even though others have died of hunger, these IDPs now have access to aid and are receiving food. Their children are now spared from hunger and malnutrition.

Today, children in East Africa face an array of challenges. Conflict disrupts lives in Sudan, Somalia, South Sudan and Ethiopia, forcing families to flee their homes and depriving children of safety, stability, and access to education. Of particular concern, is the dire food insecurity in the region, occasioned by the polycrisis of conflict, climate change and economic hardship.

Over the month of October, World Vision provided humanitarian support to 53,000 people in 35 villages of the West Bank as part of our emergency response.

This article was written to coincide with World Food Day. The article shows the change achieved by the local community of Fungurume by integrating new agricultural practices in bean growing with the support of World Vision. Today, this community has seen its harvest increase significantly, enabling it to guarantee its food security and that of the children who live there.

The PHINLA Project aims to make improvements in the existing solid waste management systems of the urban areas of Philippines, Indonesia and Sri Lanka.  

Food security and Livelihoods (FSL) including food and cash assistance, is World Vision Somalia’s largest sector, accounting for more than a third of the Country Office’s portfolio. Our FSL programs are dedicated to ensuring access to sufficient and nutritious food for children and their families, particularly during and after disaster shocks. We focus on building sustainable livelihoods and improving household food security in agropastoral areas by utilizing existing resources, such as accessing rivers for irrigation and providing agricultural training and materials to improve their irrigation and farming practices. We also implement programs aimed at increasing income and assets, strengthening food systems, and improving access to finance, credit, and markets.
