World Vision Reaches 1,355 People Following Nepal Flash Floods

In Awan, a village in Gogrial West County, two school children are proving that age is not a barrier to making a difference in their community. Through first aid training supported by World Vision’s Nexus Accelerated Fund (NAF), John and Agol have gained trust as first responders in their school and community.

As of 2 September 2026, World Vision International Nepal's Flash Flood Response Situation Report 1 provides an overview of the humanitarian impact of the devastating floods affecting Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, and surrounding districts. With 50,000 people affected and more than 21,000 displaced, the report highlights urgent needs in food security, shelter, WASH, child protection, and education. It outlines World Vision's 90-day emergency response targeting 10,000 people across 2,000 households and reports that 900 people have been reached with life-saving assistance, including food support, kitchen kits, shelter kits and essential non-food items, water purification supplies, solar lights, hygiene kits, dignity kits for women and girls, and psychosocial support.

After losing her home to the devastating Bushushu landslides and later fleeing conflict in Kalehe, 37-year-old MALIYETU struggles to provide for the 16 children in her care. With her husband out of work and the family surviving on just one meal a day, food assistance from WFP and World Vision has become a vital lifeline. Her story highlights the resilience of displaced families in eastern DRC and the power of humanitarian assistance to restore dignity, prevent malnutrition and give vulnerable households hope for a more secure future.

World Vision Mozambique is helping 720 flood-affected families in Maganja da Costa rebuild livelihoods through seeds and farming tools, supporting recovery, food production and income generation after the January 2026 floods.

As the humanitarian crisis deepens, with more than 1,000 confirmed fatalities and thousands still missing, strengthened child protection measures are urgently needed to support displaced children and their families.
