Under the theme “Advancing sustainable, inclusive, science- and evidence-based solutions for the 2030 Agenda and its SDGs for leaving no one behind in Asia and the Pacific”, the 12th Asia Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) was a critical moment for assessing regional progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). For World Vision and our partners, it was also an opportunity to highlight a crucial but often overlooked element of sustainable development—meaningful child participation.

In Misengo Village, Annie Bwalya Kapasa is a source of hope for expectant mothers. As a dedicated member of the Safe Motherhood Action Group (SMAG), Annie has been transforming maternal and child health in her community since she joined in 2015. Her journey took a significant turn in 2019 when World Vision Zambia provided her with specialized training, equipping her with the skills to support pregnant women and young mothers.

We are a group of young researchers in Thailand who conducted a study to better understand how climate change and disasters affect children in our communities. Through this research, we hope to contribute to the raising of awareness on the impacts of climate change and disasters in our communities. In recent years, our country has experienced severe heat waves due to climate change. This interrupts our daily activities, including our schooling and our families’ livelihood, and has also caused us children and adults alike to experience many health problems.

Moonzwe Rural Health Centre, once without running water, faced dire conditions. In 2024, change came, improving safety for 4,422 people across 38 villages.

This research, commissioned by World Vision’s Middle East and Eastern Europe (MEER) regional office in partnership with Qualisus Consulting, aims to assess the broader impact of cash and voucher assistance (CVA) programmes on marginalised groups and young people’s mental health and psychosocial well-being, livelihood-resilience, community and social cohesion, and child well-being.

The story is about how a young girl named Nadia in Zambezia, Mozambique, recovered from moderate acute malnutrition thanks to the support and guidance of a local health committee. It highlights the committee's work in educating parents about nutrition and providing practical help, like demonstrating how to prepare enriched porridge. The story also connects Nadia's experience to the broader issue of child malnutrition in Mozambique, citing statistics from a Demographic and Health Survey, and introduces World Vision's "Enough" campaign, which aims to address this issue.
