In december 2024 and January 2025, World Vision provided humanitarian support to 101,000 people in 142 villages as part of our emergency response. Our response focused on community protection, mental health, access to health care and access to safe education.

This report presents the voices of 69 children—33 girls and 36 boys—aged 14 to 17 from 10 countries, sharing their experiences and perspectives on migration. Through consultations, they discussed key themes, including the drivers of migration, its impact on children, identity documentation, challenges in civil registration, and recommendations for strengthening civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS) systems. The participating countries were Bangladesh, Cambodia, Laos, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The ongoing crisis in Sudan has had a significant impact on many women and children. Families have been forced to leave their homes in search of safety in neighbouring countries, such as South Sudan. Numerous schools have been destroyed, leaving both students and teachers displaced.

This press release is an urgent call from World Vision for an immediate cessation of violence and a return to dialogue in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), warning that the ongoing conflict is worsening the humanitarian crisis, particularly for children. The destruction of hospitals, schools, and displacement camps has left children increasingly vulnerable, heightening the risks of diseases like TB and measles due to missed vaccinations. As of February 2025, over half a million people have been displaced, adding to the already high number of 6.8 million internally displaced persons (IDPs). World Vision is deeply concerned that without action, the crisis will escalate further, with devastating consequences for children. The organization urges global leaders to press for peace and allow for unrestricted humanitarian aid to meet growing needs. They also advocate for a humanitarian pause to provide families with safety and access to essential supplies. World Vision has been supporting displaced communities in North and South Kivu and is preparing to expand its response in Goma once access is granted. The organization calls for meaningful dialogues to ensure a lasting resolution and protect the future of children in the region.

In the heart of one of World Vision’s operational areas in Southern Zambia is a tiny remote village called Chile. This is home to 14-year-old Precious, a cheerful young seventh grader who loves school and singing in her church choir more than anything. Precious lives with her elderly grandparents, Jane and David, and two cousins in a two-roomed mud-brick house.
