When the Zambia Institute of Public Relations and Communications announced its 2025 awards, World Vision Zambia walked away with First Prize in the Best Digital Media Campaign category — recognition earned not in boardrooms, but in the communities where the real work happens. The award reflects a year of deliberate, story-led communications that placed children at the centre of every message, every image, and every decision about what to say and how to say it.

Through dialogue and youth leadership, conflict-affected communities in Metuge, Mozambique are overcoming mistrust to build a shared, peaceful future.

That situation began to change after the family joined the Aleamandro Farmer Group under the Uganda Refugee Resilience Initiative (URRI) Programme and was introduced to nutrition-sensitive agriculture, a farming approach designed to address both food shortages and poor diets at the same time.

Beyond improved yields, farmers also say they have adopted climate-smart agriculture practices, including monitoring rainfall patterns and using the data to guide planting decisions. The approach, they say, has reduced losses caused by unpredictable weather.

In Zambia’s Mwinilunga District, heavy rains cause erosion and nutrient loss, while changing weather patterns and dry spells challenge farmers to manage water resources effectively.

In Sudan, displaced children face hunger, conflict, and neglect—without urgent support, an entire generation risks being lost.

We are supporting farmers with climate-smart agricultural practices, access to savings, markets, and technologies that help them adapt to changing weather conditions. The programme has reached nearly 10,000 farmers in Lamwo and Adjumani districts, including both refugees and members of host communities.

To commemorate International Environment Day 2026, World Vision DRC’s Kinshasa Cluster brought together local authorities, schools, and community members in Ngandu, Kimbanseke, to promote environmental protection and climate action. Through awareness sessions, waste management demonstrations, tree-planting activities, and the distribution of waste bins to schools, the event highlighted the crucial role of children and communities in building a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future for generations to come.
