Weekend of
prayer & action
against hunger
11-13 October, 2024
Isaiah 58: “to loose the chains of injustice, untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free...and share our food with the hungry.”
We believe hunger has no place in the 21st century and is entirely preventable.
The world faces an unprecedented hunger crisis. The storm of conflict, climate change and rising costs are driving children, and families into extremely vulnerable situations.
The number of people affected by acute food insecurity has nearly doubled over the past three years, from 135 million people across 55 countries in 2019 to a record 258 million in 58 countries in 2022.
Churches worldwide are joining together for the third annual Weekend of Prayer and Action Against Hunger on 11-13 October 2024, coinciding with World Food Day.
We are sharing updated information, liturgies and Action-oriented resources for your families and congregations. Resources will be made available in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.

Weekend of Prayer & Action Against Hunger Recording
On World Food Day (16th October) members of the coalition, their offices and congregations, gathered to pray. In this time together, people from all around the world united to seek God in the pursuit of ending hunger and improving nutrition. Through worship, reflection and prayer, the group sought to see the world be moved to take action whereby we may 'share our food with the hungry' (Isaiah 58).
