Goals and objectives

The “ERTAD: Supporting Poverty Alleviation in Georgia Through Ultra Poor Graduation” project funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) aims to contribute to reducing poverty and increase the resilience of ultra-poor households in five regions in Georgia and encourage their active participation in socio-economic life through the incorporation of ultra-poor graduation principles and measures into national and subnational programmes in support of the poverty reduction efforts of the Government of Georgia.   

Key actions

1. Provide direct support to the most vulnerable by implementing the Ultra-Poor Graduation (UPG) approach so ultra-poor households will have improved socio-economic inclusion, resilience and technical skills, knowledge and capacities to access existing social and financial services and markets and to participate in community structures and networks.  

2. Build capacity and provide technical assistance to governmental duty-bearers (agencies) at national and municipal levels to strengthen capacities and structures to promote UPG in Georgia through the establishment of a UPG knowledge pool and adapted UPG-model approaches for the Georgian context.
