Day of Prayer, a Commitment Day

Another special day for World Vision Partnership has just been celebrated. On 1st of October, World Vision offices across the world celebrated the Day of Prayer. Members of staff came together and renewed their commitment to contribute to the wellbeing of children.

Across Myanmar, the staff celebrated the Day during the first week of October under the theme,  “One Mind, One Voice”, based on Romans 15: 5-6. It reads, “May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ had, so that with One Mind and One Voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ”.

A local pastor inspired staff to have peace from God. “Whatever the circumstances will be, we have the power from God,” he said. The World Vision Myanmar (WVM) Advisory Council chair, Daw Gillian Thida Moe, also encouraged staff by summing up her message based on nine Ps:

“God gives us peace, power, protection and He provides. We need to praise Him, pray to Him and have perseverance.  But avoid prejudice, pride and persecution,” she shared.

The National Director, Mr. Suresh Bartlett gave his heartfelt thanks to the staff for ensuring that child wellbeing was achieved throughout the year.

“We don’t know FY18 but we know God holds the future,” he said, “but let us walk the talk. Walking the talk involves commitment, honesty, accountability, respect, self-discipline, courage and integrity.” He said.

However the Day of Prayer did not just end there. World Vision Myanmar used the day to launch five-year global joint campaign, “It Takes a World to End Violence Against Children”, internally.

Awareness and sensitisation messages were shared with the staff from all departments. At this point, all the staff committed  to participate in the campaign by signing their names on a big vinyl.

The day was not just full of eagerness, but it pointed to the new promise. The dedication to prayer reaffirmed staff’s commitment to serving God through World Vision.

It was a Day new hope and willingness for members of staff to get into the new fiscal year revived to perform their tasks with One Mind and One Voice under the protection and power of God.
