Addressing food insecurity in Afghanistan
October 16 is World Food Day, a day of solidarity for people who are deprived of their most basic right. We want to celebrate and honour the day by giving thanks to God for the blessings He has bestowed upon and to continues to bestow on the children and the poor in Afghanistan
In Afghanistan, more than 1.5 million men, women and children go to bed with an empty stomach every night. Hunger not only reduces life expectancy, it also can cause irreparable damage to the well-being of families, especially children.
In Afghanistan, World Vision’s Maternal and Under-5 Nutrition and Child Health (MUNCH) programme, funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs Trade and Development in Canada, has been working since 2013 to improve the availability of and access to nutritious food sources in the three province of Herat, Ghor and Badghis.
