World Vision International Nepal's protection and child sponsorship program intervention aims to increase in girls and boys protected from violence. 

World Vision’s protection and child sponsorship initiatives have enabled children and adolescents to identify, prevent, and respond to a variety of protection risks. The empowered children are taking self-initiation to end violence against children at community level. Furthermore, local governments are taking proactive policy and program measures to provide an enabling environment for children and reduce protection vulnerabilities. Formation of LCRC and formulation of child protection policies and programs are sustainable initiatives for long term impact.

Some of the key achievements of the interventions in FY23 were: 

  • 99 Rupantaran groups engaged in life and protective skills sessions to prevent and respond to all forms of violence and ensure positive coping measures are adopted. 

  • 5,893 children and adolescents took action to support ending violence against children through Rupantaran sessions, community initiatives and campaign activities in their communities. 

  • 7,106 parents participated in positive parenting sessions to adopt positive behavior towards children and adolescent by parents, and build trust of their children through generation of support systems at home. 

  • 1,379 community members were reached through different child protection related messages, incorporating messages and community level initiatives against harmful social norms and practices, child marriage, substance abuse, etc. 

  • 17 Local Child Rights Committees (LCRCs) met the minimum requirements under child rights and child protection system. 14 Local Child Rights Committees (LCRCs) have been supported to develop child protection action plan. 

  • Successfully partnered with the provincial government in Sudurpaschim and Bagmati Provinces to formulate child protection policy measures. Through a series of engagements, the Far West Province Government initiated the formation of a province level strategic action plan to end child marriage, and the Bagmati Province Government initiated the formation of a Children’s Policy.
