Sustainable Agriculture Terminologies Report

World Vision launched our Environmental Sustainability and Climate Action (ESCA) Strategic Roadmap 2025–2027. One of the focus areas is building sustainable agri-food systems for children’s wellbeing.  While World Vision has a long history of implementing sustainable agriculture such as climate-smart agriculture, agroecology, and organic farming, often the terminologies used for different practices are confusingly used interchangeably. Therefore, there is a growing need to have more clarity to improve understanding of the different terminologies, while recognising the challenges and limitations given the diversity of local cultural and linguistic contexts they are often used in.

This discussion paper was developed to help practitioners working on agri-food systems gain a better understanding of what each of the different terminologies mean and how they can be used.
