In Afghanistan, children continue to suffer as crisis follows crisis.
A 6.3 magnitude quake devastated at least 12 villages near the city of Herat on Saturday, 7 October 2023.
Children and families in Afghanistan are experiencing one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world, and now a deadly earthquake has brought more tragedy.
Over 2,000 people have been killed and thousands injured; people lost their houses and belongings. An already suffering population now faces another deadly challenge.
World Vision is the first responder to the devastating earthquake through:
- 13,748 people received life-saving health and nutrition services;
- 2,044 people received non-food item kits;
- 5,376 people received hygiene kits;
- 651 individuals received multi-purpose-cash assistance; and
- 5 child protection help desks and 4 child-friendly spaces are established.
