Safe Water Saves Lives in Afghanistan

Tuesday, March 21, 2017

The World Vision Afghanistan (WVA) WASH programme increases access to clean water while also promoting household sanitation and raising awareness within communities on the importance of good hygiene and health practices. Not only is unclean water one of the most deadly threats for children in Afghanistan, but also village children often have to sacrifice homework, school and play time because of either having to walk long distances to fetch water, or to wait in the long queues at water points. 82,100 children die annually due to diarrhea in this country. WVA works with the government, partner agencies, and rural communities to address the scarcity of safe water and poor sanitation and hygiene practices.
