From Words to Action: Transforming Food Systems for a Climate-Resilient Future

McLarence Mandaza, PhD, Environmental Sustainability & Climate Action Technical Lead at World Vision Southern Africa, recently participated in a panel discussion at the German Pavilion during COP28. The discussion focused on Inclusive and Resilient Food Systems and their crucial role in transforming global adaptation to climate change.

McLanrence (holding microphone) emphasized the need for immediate action, stating, "It is not ENOUGH to just talk about food systems transformation. Bold action in implementing sustainable and inclusive climate-resilient food systems is urgent."

He highlighted various approaches that can contribute to this transformation, including agroecology, Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR), and climate-smart agriculture. These approaches offer promising solutions to promote #sustainable food production, improve #nutrition and food security, and build resilience against climate change impacts.

World Vision's #ENOUGH campaign was also presented at the discussion, emphasizing the need for urgent action to address food insecurity and malnutrition. The campaign calls for greater investments in sustainable food systems and empowering communities to take ownership of their food security, so as to create a world where every child enjoys ENOUGH nourishing food so they can thrive.

McLarence's participation at COP28 underscores World Vision Southern Africa's commitment to promoting food systems transformation and building a more sustainable and equitable future for all.

This call to action echoes the growing global concern about the need for decisive and collaborative efforts to address climate change and its impact on food security.
