Going Green: rice-planting green, pig-raising green

Tuesday, July 26, 2016

11-year-old San, 5th grader, tells about how his parents have applied the natural farming method with World Vision’s support for raising pig, producing biogas and planting rice to help protect the environment.

Such livelihood supports enable San’s parents not only to support their family, but also to pay for their children’s education.

Currently, in San’s community, more than 300 families use their own biogas for cooking. Among them, 40 families have applied the environmentally friendly farming methods for rice-planting combined with pig-raising. The farmers decided to fully stop using pesticide and chemical fertilizers on seven hectares of pilot rice fields.
