Antonio Santana Dias
Technical Director, Health and Nutrition
António Dias, who also goes by his middle name Santana, is a Mozambican medical doctor and public health practitioner who specializes in nutrition epidemiology. He has worked for World Vision for 12 years in different management and technical roles, with experience working with the Mozambican and Angolan Field Offices in addition to supporting more than 15 countries in Africa and Asia.
Dr. Dias is a trainer in Positive Deviance Hearth and has extensive experience in infant and young child feeding (IYCF) in emergencies and Community Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM), including management of acute malnutrition in clinical settings.
In 2019, he led the World Vision health and nutrition emergency response to the devastating Cyclone Idai in Sothern Africa. Previously, Dr. Dias managed an ECHO-funded nutrition, agriculture, and WASH emergency project in Southern Angola.
To complement his clinical and project intervention skills, Dr. Dias is also an experienced researcher and expert in monitoring and evaluation. He has been trained as a SMART survey manager and has over ten years of experience conducting baseline, endline, and barrier analysis assessments. He is proficient in digital health applications and was the Monitoring and Evaluation Global Lead for the multi-country Right-to-Grow consortium that implemented a large nutrition advocacy project in Africa and Asia. Santana is part of the World Health Organization emergency roster and an avid photographer.
