Final efforts in Romania as 2% campaign draws to a close
“I came here today to talk about those colleagues of ours who are less fortunate than we are here in the city. I’m willing to explain their situation and transmit their message to everybody that wants to listen!” said Paula Trif, a 16 year-old high school student volunteer for World Vision at one event during an interview broadcast by local TV stations.

All children should have equal opportunities”, said a 9 year old participant High school and University students supported the campaigning efforts in Cluj to encourage adults that students of their age, from the rural areas, need to be helped with money for boarding school, food and school supplies in order to continue their education and explained that just by redirecting 2% of their taxes young people could fulfill this right to education.
The Cluj marketing team organized a puppet theatre in the central park of the city for World Vision beneficiaries and also for children coming from several schools and kindergartens. “It would be so nice to have a puppet theatre show every day in the park” exclaimed a 5 year old girl, obviously delighted to be part of the event
Over 400 information leaflets about the 2% campaign were offered by World Vision volunteers, dressed in white T-shirts, to the children’s parents and the passers-by.
“I have been supported by WV so far. They have offered me school supplies, arranged the classroom with new desks and blackboards, and donated education material for my school. We had a chance, but other children are lacking this. All children should have equal opportunities”, said a 9 year old participant.
In lasi a campaign event entitled “Give 2% for children” was offered by children and for children. More than 100 children from the five sponsorship communities in Iasi ADP created a colourful and lively event by dancing, singing, and presenting theatre shows and violin performances in the central park of lasi in support of other rural children. WV staff dressed in clowns joined the children and made balloon sculptures for those who attended.
A big “2” made of orange balloons was set on the esplanade where the event took place.
Around thirty WV volunteers, dressed in 2% campaign T-shirts bearing the message “2% for children” distributed 200 white balloons with the same slogan to children in the park and promotional materials to children’s parents. Final forms to redirect 2% of the annual income for children were also completed.

2% campaign will come to an end on the 15th of May, the same deadline by which Romanian tax payers can submit forms expressing the option to redirect 2% of their income taxes to Romanian NGO’s.
