
Edward Zan, Dr.
Dr. Edward Zan is a public health physician with extensive experience working in the public/ government sector, private sector, and academia as well as in relief and development. Dr Edward Zan obtained a medical degree from the University of Medicine (1) in Yangon and received his Master of Public Health (MPH) from the Emory University, Atlanta Georgia, USA. He was a visiting scholar of Fogarty International Programme and Hubert H. Humphrey fellow. He also obtained Master of Arts in Community Development (MACD) from Myanmar Institute of Theology in Yangon.
He had worked as a Medical Officer in the Ministry of Health in Myanmar before he joined Premier Petroleum Myanmar Limited (PPML) as Medical Coordinator of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) department. Then continued with Petronas Carigali Myanmar which took over from Premier Petroleum Myanmar and continue in the Health, Safety and Environment till he served in the senior management team till he retired from the company. Dr Edward Zan was also the Chief Operations Officer of Leo Healthcare International Limited providing emergency health care services, medical evacuation, public health programme, training, health campaigns and led the operation of Leo clinics and laboratories. He also did several consultancies for programme design, monitoring & evaluation, and programme management with NGOs and EHOs. He also teaches at the Myanmar Institute of Theology in community development and statistics during his spare time.
