Child Protection & Participation Programme

A world empowers children to thrive and lead

"By preventing violence, ensuring safety, amplifying children's voices and fostering inclusive spaces, we create empowering environments for children to thrive and shape their future."

At World Vision International Myanmar, the safety and well-being of children are at the heart of our mission. Since 2004, our Child Protection Department has been working to protect children from abuse, exploitation, and violence, with a focus on the most vulnerable—those affected by conflict, child labor, human trafficking, child marriage, and street life. We also work to protect and empower girls, women, and people with disabilities (PWDs).

We believe that children’s voices are vital in shaping the decisions that affect their lives. We actively promote child participation, empowering children and youth to engage meaningfully in advocacy and decision-making processes. By providing safe platforms for children to share their views, we ensure that their perspectives are heard in local, national, and international policy discussions.

Our approaches to change

CP-1

IMPACT+

This programme targets children and youth (10-25 years), focusing on building life skills through weekly sessions that prepare them for adulthood. IMPACT Clubs, made up of 10-25 young people, meet to learn, have fun, and contribute to their communities by solving local problems.

CP-2

Dare to Discover (D2D)

In partnership with faith leaders, this programme encourages positive dialogue with children to address harmful social practices. D2D helps young people explore their purpose, build confidence, and enrich their education and personal growth.

CP-3

Children & Young Leaders as Agents of Change

This programme empowers children (12-18 years) to engage with local authorities, advocate for child protection, and prevent child recruitment into armed groups. It also supports the development of child protection policies.

CP-4

Celebrating Families

This programme helps vulnerable families create supportive, loving environments. It provides parents and caregivers with the skills to nurture their children's emotional and spiritual well-being.

CP-5

Positive Discipline/Parenting

This approach trains parents and caregivers in non-violent, positive discipline techniques, offering practical advice to build respectful and effective parenting practices.

CP-6

Channel of Hope for CP

This programme encourages communities to tackle child protection issues, connect with local organizations, and advocate for solutions, promoting positive change for children's well-being.

CP-7

Home Visiting

Volunteers visit vulnerable children and families, building supportive relationships, offering spiritual support, and connecting them to community resources to improve parent-child relationships and prevent abuse.
