Dan Irvine
Global Director, nutrition and health
As Global Director for World Vision International’s Health and Nutrition team since 2022 and Senior Director since 2007, Dan Irvine has led strategy, implementation, and engagement globally. World Vision’s health investments more than doubled in this period, significantly expanding community systems strengthening approaches to reduce maternal and under-five child morbidity and mortality. Those approaches have been largely focused on building community capacity and ownership of their health outcomes, and linking community-based approaches such as Community Health Workers into formal health systems. He has also directed our Global Fund portfolio, and more recently led engagement with GAVI.
Prior to joining World Vision in 2005, Dan lived and worked in Africa for 15 years, with notable stints in the Republic of Congo and Zambia. He holds a BSc. in Community Psychology and an MSc. in Public Policy with focus on post-conflict reconstruction. He has served as an adjunct professor at George Mason University, and has served for 17 years on the Board of Directors for the Elizabeth Bowers Zambia Education Fund.
