Education
Background
At World Vision International Nepal, we believe that education is the foundation for lifelong learning, personal development, and a future free from poverty. Our education programme is designed to ensure equitable access to inclusive and quality education for all children—especially the most vulnerable—in alignment with the government’s national priorities such as School Education Sector Plan (2022/23-2031/32), Recovery and Accelerated Learning (ReAL) Plan (2023-2028) and international commitment- Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4).
Goal
Children from the most vulnerable families have an equitable access to inclusive and quality education.
Education Project Models
World Vision’s education programs aim to ensure every child has access to quality learning opportunities from early childhood through adolescence. Through proven, evidence-based models, we support children, families, schools, and communities to build strong literacy foundations, safe learning environments, and systems of accountability that uphold every child’s right to learn and thrive.

Unlock Literacy (UL)
Unlock Literacy is World Vision’s evidence-based model designed to ensure that children aged 6 to 9 (Grades 1–3) develop sustainable literacy skills and are equipped for lifelong learning. The goal is to help students acquire grade-appropriate foundational reading and writing skills, enabling them to comprehend and engage with age-level texts. Unlock Literacy fosters a rich, stimulating learning environment both at home and in school, empowering children to become confident, capable readers.

Comprehensive School Safety (CSS)
Comprehensive School Safety promotes safe, inclusive, and resilient learning environments that are prepared for disasters and emergencies. The model strengthens the ability of schools, teachers, and students to anticipate, respond to, and recover from crises. The goal is to integrate disaster risk reduction into education systems, ensuring continued access to learning even in the face of emergencies.

Citizen Voice and Action (CVA)
Citizen Voice and Action is World Vision’s social accountability approach that strengthens the relationship between communities and government service providers. In the education sector, CVA empowers parents, caregivers, and community members to advocate for better educational services and infrastructure. The goal is to hold schools and local governments accountable for quality, equitable, and effective service delivery.

Learning Roots (LR)
Learning Roots is a holistic early childhood development model that supports children aged 3 to 6 to reach key developmental milestones. Rooted in a child’s broader ecosystem—including family, community, and society—the model promotes play-based, child-centered learning in secure and nurturing environments. The goal is to ensure that all children enter primary school developmentally on track and ready to learn.
