Since the onset of the war in Syria, our teams have been on the ground, providing crucial humanitarian aid to children and families in need.

After nearly 14 years of conflict, Syria’s political landscape has changed dramatically, yet the need for emergency aid remains dire. Over 16 million people, including refugees and internally displaced individuals, continue to rely on humanitarian assistance. The war has left critical infrastructure—such as hospitals, schools, and water supply systems—severely damaged or destroyed, making access to basic necessities like food, water, and medical care extremely challenging in many areas.

The Current Situation in Syria

The political shift in Syria in recent weeks has added to the already immense hardships faced by the civilian population. After almost 14 years of conflict, insecurity and fear are widespread, and the humanitarian needs are greater than ever. With the regime change, the situation has become even more critical, and a further deterioration of conditions is possible in the short term.

More than 16 million people—refugees, internally displaced persons, and others—remain dependent on humanitarian aid. Vital infrastructure such as hospitals, schools, and water systems has been destroyed or damaged, leaving communities without access to essential services. Even with a new transitional government, without international support, it is impossible to meet the basic needs of the population.

Hundreds of thousands of Syrians live in displacement camps, and millions of children have grown up without basic protections—without access to proper nutrition, education, and a safe environment. Child labor and early, forced marriages are widespread. Many children lack birth registration, hindering their access to healthcare and other vital services.

The devastation was further compounded by a devastating earthquake two years ago, which resulted in the loss of countless lives and left even more children without parents. With up to 90% of Syrians now living below the poverty line, Syria faces one of the greatest humanitarian crises of our time.

How Your Donation Helps

Your generous donation supports World Vision’s comprehensive humanitarian efforts on the ground in Syria and neighbouring countries. We are committed to providing essential aid to vulnerable children and their families, working alongside reliable local partners and our dedicated teams.

For years, World Vision has been committed to supporting children affected by the crisis in Syria. We collaborate with organizations that adhere to humanitarian principles and share the vision of a peaceful Syria for all. Our response includes:

Food and Water: We provide nutritious meals to children and distribute food vouchers to families. We are also repairing damaged water pipes and tanks to restore access to clean water in refugee camps.

Healthcare: We offer medical care at health centers, where people receive necessary treatments and medications to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.

Child Protection and Education: We operate children’s centers where refugee children are protected and given educational opportunities. We also provide vocational training for youth and adults. In northwestern Syria, we have established 11 child protection centers, some specifically for women and girls.

Supply of Everyday Goods: In partnership with local organizations, we distribute essential goods to families, helping them protect themselves from harsh winter conditions and supporting the repair of their shelters in refugee camps.

By donating to World Vision, you are directly helping alleviate the suffering of millions in Syria, bringing hope and essential aid to those most in need.
