Child Protection
Child Protection and Participation Department strives to create a safe, inclusive, protective and enabling environment for boys, girls, women and people with disability within World Vision Ethiopia and its operational areas. Our programming approach aims at prevention and response to incidents of child abuse, neglect, exploitation and all forms of violence and the restoration of hope and dignity for survivors through the provision of case management services including mental health and psycho-social support.
Our programmatic interventions centre on transforming social norms, attitudes and behaviours affecting the well-being of children, women and people with disability through awareness raising and capacity building. Ensuring child participation and strengthening existing systems that protect children and women are also other focus areas of the department. Currently, the Child Protection and Participation programme is implemented in 23 area programmes operating in stable contexts and in all emergency areas.
In 2023, we have addressed 383,887 people in development interventions and 521,406 people in emergency situations.
