World Vision Ethiopia Inaugurates Technical Vocational Education Training Center
As part of its economic development program, WVE has been working towards empowering youth and adolescents through the provision of short, medium and long term skill development and vocational training that could help them employ themselves by creating own businesses. In this connection, Shiro Meda Technical Vocational Education Training Center is one of the projects that WVE designed and implemented in collaboration with citizens of Chungbuk Province of South Korea through Dang-Yang Daily News and Chcong Ju Broadcasting Co. LTD and World Vision Korea. The center was inaugurated on the 25th of February, 2014 in the presence of Addis Ababa City Administration Mayor representative Wondemageg Tesemma, Chcong Ju Dang-Yang Daily News CEO and representative of Chungbuk province and Mrs, Margaret Schuler, National Director of WVE.
“As part of its economic development program, WVE is working towards empowering youth and adolescents through the provision of short, medium and long term skill development and vocational Education Training Center is one of these endeavors” Said Mrs. Margaret Schuler, World Vision Ethiopia National Director. The project has been implemented into two phases. In the first phase (2009-2012), a G+1 building consisting of three classrooms, five workshops and two office rooms was built. While, during the second phase (2012-2014), a G+4 building with two workshops, nine class rooms, a library, a meeting hall, a store and 5 office rooms had been constructed at a cost of more than one million USD. In order to effectively carry out its function, the center has been equipped with all the necessary machineries, hand tools, computers as well as furniture.
Mr. Wondemgagn, Addis Ababa City Administration Mayor representative on his part said “This G+4 building constructed and equipped with all relevant materials by World Vision is a typical example of what the government of Ethiopia currently needs. It helps us to empower our youth and adolescents towards economic opportunities, creates competent and self-reliant citizens to contribute to the economic and social development of the country”.
Inaugurating the center, Dong-Yang Daily News CEO further assures the support and commitment of the citizens of Chungbuk province will continue in development activities.
