"You're never too young to lead!"
Around the world children, especially the most vulnerable and those living in poverty, face staggering challenges and seemingly insurmountable obstacles. At World Vision, we believe that the only way to build a better world for children is by building a better world with children.
On August 12 the world celebrates International Youth day, a day designated by the United Nations to celebrate youth, focus on the issues they care about and that affect them as well as highlight the differences they are making in their communities, their countries, and their world.
Former UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan, once said: “You are never too young to lead.”
We could not agree more. Children and youth in our programs are:
- · fighting child labour
- · improving educational opportunities where quality and access are lacking
- · promoting peace in countries plagued with conflict
- · creating spaces for dialogue and community organization
- · keeping their leaders accountable to their promises
- · promoting healthy practices in their community
- · attacking issues of discrimination and injustice
- · finding creative ways to use technology to make sure their voices are heard
We celebrate and these children and the countless others who are using their abilities to have an impact and bring change realizing that for most of them, this is just the beginning.
