REGIONAL NUTRITION AND HEALTH SENIOR ADVISOR, EAST AFRICA REGION

Mr. Fanuel Odhiambo has a wealth of experience spanning a decade in policy development, program management, and humanitarian efforts focused on maternal, child health, and nutrition in regions such as Yemen and Eastern and Southern Africa. Mr. Fanuel profoundly believes that hunger and malnutrition constitute a breach of rights of a child. 

Before assuming this position, Fanuel served as the Nutrition Technical Officer at the WHO Regional Office for Africa. In this capacity, he provided technical expertise in Nutrition in Emergencies and was crucial in coordinating the COVID-19 response in East and Southern Africa. Notably, Mr. Fanuel co-authored two papers in the Pan-Africa Medical Journal on sustaining health and nutrition services in the context of COVID-19 within the Eastern and Southern Africa sub-region. 

Drawing from a diverse career, Fanuel has worked for international NGOs such as the International Rescue Committee, Medair International, and Concern Worldwide in Kenya, South Sudan, Yemen, and Sudan. 

Mr. Fanuel completed his undergraduate studies in Food and Nutrition Sciences at the University of Nairobi. He attained a Postgraduate Diploma in Global Health in Humanitarian and Conflict Situations at The University of Manchester. He also holds a Master of Public Health with distinction from University College London (UCL).
