Health and Nutrition Programme

A world where all children are healthy and nutritious

"Good health empowers people to live a better life. We serve vulnerable children, families, and communities by teaching proper hygiene and nutrition and enhancing their health systems."

For over 30 years, World Vision International Myanmar (WVIM) has been committed to improving health and well-being in Myanmar, with a strong focus on Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health and Nutrition (MNCHN) as well as the prevention of communicable diseases.

We prioritize the first 1,000 days of a child's life by implementing evidence-based, cost-effective, and community-driven interventions to improve the health and nutrition of pregnant women, lactating mothers, and children aged 0-24 months.

Our approach strengthens health systems by working at the household, community, and township levels. In collaboration with the Ministry of Health, civil society organizations, and local communities, we ensure sustainable and impactful health improvements. Through our integrated health and nutrition programmes, World Vision Myanmar is dedicated to building healthier, more resilient communities across Myanmar.

Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health and Nutrition (MNCHN)

We focus on the first 1,000 days of a child's life, providing nutrition support and education to pregnant women, mothers, and caregivers to improve health outcomes for both mothers and children.

Strengthening Community Health Systems

Strengthening Community Health Systems

Our efforts are aimed at strengthening local health systems by collaborating with community-based organizations, village health committees, and referral systems to ensure better healthcare accessibility and delivery.

Strengthening Public Health System

Strengthening Public Health Systems

We work closely with township health departments to enhance the effectiveness of our programmes. By focusing on maternal and child health services, including antenatal care (ANC), postnatal care (PNC), immunization, and child healthcare, we maximize our impact on local communities.

Community Disease

Community-Based Prevention and Control of Communicable Diseases:

Our community-driven programmes focus on the prevention and control of communicable diseases, such as tuberculosis (TB), to reduce health risks and promote well-being.

ttC

Timed and Targeted Counseling (ttC)

Trained community mobilizers conduct home visits, focusing on behavior change communication regarding health and nutrition for mothers and children under two years old, ensuring proper care during the crucial first 1,000 days of a child's life.

GMP

Nutrition Intervention (GMP & IYCF)

We monitor the nutritional status of children under five years old through quarterly assessments of height, weight, and Mid-Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC). Based on these results, we provide referrals and conduct Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) counseling during home visits to support optimal nutrition and growth.
