Co-Creating Solutions for Better Child Nutrition: Pilot Implementation of the SBC Design Guide in Indonesia

From October 2024 to September 2025, Yayasan Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) is piloting the Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) Design Guide developed by World Vision. Funded by World Vision International and World Vision USA, the one-year initiative aims to test the guide’s effectiveness in improving child nutrition outcomes in East Lombok, Indonesia.

The pilot uses a mixed-methods approach, beginning with a baseline Lot Quality Assurance Sampling (LQAS) household survey, followed by Photovoice activities involving mothers of children under five in six villages. Participants will use photography to document their lived experiences, offering insight into the barriers and enablers of child feeding practices.

Structured lesson plans, including a Photovoice manual and handouts, will guide participants in ethical data collection, community dialogue, and participatory analysis. The research will help identify key drivers affecting minimum dietary diversity and inform the co-creation of contextually relevant SBC interventions with community stakeholders.

Interventions will be piloted over five months with continuous monitoring and refinement. The pilot will conclude with a quantitative endline assessment in August 2025. Findings will be shared at a national learning event in September 2025.
