Improving child feeding practices among young mothers in Indonesia
Co-Creating Solutions for Better Child Nutrition: Pilot Implementation of the SBC Design Guide in East Lombok, Indonesia
As part of a one-year pilot (October 2024–September 2025) funded by World Vision International (WVI) and World Vision US, Yayasan Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) will test the effectiveness of WV’s new Social and Behavior Change (SBC) Design Guide. Using a mixed-methods approach, the pilot will begin with a baseline Lot Quality Assurance Sampling (LQAS) household survey, followed by Photovoice activities with mothers of children under five in six villages. Through photography, participants will document their lived experiences, providing visual and narrative insights into barriers and enablers of child feeding practices. Structured lesson plans, including a Photovoice manual and handouts, will train participants in data collection, ethical considerations, community dialogue, and participatory analysis. The research will identify key barriers to achieving minimum dietary diversity and inform the co-creation of SBC interventions with community stakeholders. These interventions will be piloted over five months, with continuous monitoring and refinement. A quantitative endline assessment in August 2025 will evaluate the interventions' impact, with findings shared at a national learning event in September.
