It's the right time to listen to children's voices

Fifty children from Lusitada village joined a Basic Leadership Skills training and for the establishment of the Child Forum on March 20-22, 2015 in Bloro, Sikka.

This event was facilitated by Wahana Visi Indonesia together with village government, Catholic Student Union in Indonesia, Family Commission of the Diocese in Maumere, and other representatives from the government of Sikka regency.

For three days, these 50 children learned about knowing themselves, becoming involved with an organization, leading in love, and public speaking.

During the last day of training, Lusitada Child Forum was finally established. Gervasius Simon as the village chief and other representatives such as Carolina Maru, and Selsi come to inaugurate this forum.

"The establishment of this Child Forum is in line with Sikka regency program in making a Child-Friendly Regency. We will budget funds for any activity conducted by Lusitada Child Forum. I hope that many children could give their voice in any village meeting," said Gervasius in his speech.

"I feel happy with this training because I gained much knowledge here. We agreed to hold meetings twice a week to discuss our work program," said Yulius, a 14-year-old boy who was appointed as the chief of Lusitada Child Forum.

The Child Forum in Lusitada is the beginning of change and will help villagers to listen to the voices of children's.
