Death toll rises from the ongoing floods due to the heavy downpour in Kenya.
More than 311,100 people have now been displaced by floods, with the death toll rising to 132 (Source: OCHA Flash Update #5:Floods in Kenya : 10 May 2018) The Kenya Meteorological Department has warned that heavy rains and thunderstorms are expected to continue, in the Lake Victoria region, the Highlands around the Rift Valley including North Eastern counties of Marsabit, Isiolo, Mandera, Wajir and Garissa. The department has called on Kenyans to be prepared for flooding, as water levels from the rainfall might increase as it has surpassed the usual average of level of expected water level capacity.
The number of people displaced is expected to increase.
