World Vision Responds to Devastating Earthquake in Myanmar

A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake has devastated communities across Myanmar. Millions felt the the massive quake which triggered tremors across Thailand, Bangladesh, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and China and pulled down buildings and destroyed infrastructure in central Myanmar. Even before this disaster, nearly half the country lived in poverty, with children especially vulnerable. Now, thousands are without food, clean water, or safe shelter.

For more than 30 years, World Vision has been serving in Myanmar. Our local teams are already on the ground, assessing the damage and delivering urgent aid. We are providing emergency food, clean water, shelter, and hygiene kits to protect children and families in this critical time.

Children and their families who have survived this disaster are going to need emergency aid to get them through the days and months ahead. Many will likely be living out in the open following damage to their homes.
