Tomato farms feeding families

Friday, October 19, 2012

Children and communities in different villages on the outskirts of the Kathmandu valley have benefited from tomato farming.

Many families have started growing tomatoes after receiving training in tunnel farming, a simple technology in agricultural farming which helps produce off-seasonal vegetables.

The trainings are being provided with the support of World Vision through its Livelihood Project.

Increased yield of tomatoes have generated more income and improved economic conditions of families, especially supporting children in their education. Eating a variety of vegetables have also added nutrition to children's diet, therefore improving health conditions.
