The Multipurpose Healthcare Center is inaugurated in Librazhd, support for children, youth and families

July 31, 2024For the first time, the residents of Librazhd will have a Multipurpose Healthcare Center in their community, which offers integrated services for children and youth with disabilities, parents, inclusive professionals, and supports farmers and families in need with income generation activities.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Mrs Albana Koçiu, the Mayor of Librazhd, Mr. Mariglen Disha, the Executive Director of World Vision Albania, Mrs Eljona Elmazi, as well as social service professionals, children, youth and parents.

"We are working to have as many centers as possible that serve children and young people with disabilities. I believe this is the perfect example of how the cooperation between the local and national level institutions and partner organizations is finalized with a success story like the center that we just inaugurated," - declared Minister Albana Koçiu, while appreciating the contribution of World Vision Albania in putting the center into operation and providing specialized services.

"World Vision has been working for 25 years in Albania and for 17 years in Librazhd. Our multilateral support will continue with the aim of increasing the well-being of children and youth, especially of the most vulnerable one, as well as empowering their families and communities. I want to thank Kia for the funding, as well as the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and the Librazhd Municipality for the fruitful cooperation. United, we can bring positive, long-term and sustainable changes," said the Executive Director of World Vision Albania, Mrs Eljona Elmazi.

This center was established in the framework of “Kia Green Light Project". The project is implemented by World Vision Albania organization in cooperation with the Librazhd Municipality and the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, with the support of World Vision Korea and funded by Kia.

In the framework of this project:

• 62 children and young people with disabilities will be supported with physiotherapy, speech therapy and development therapy, as well as their parents/caregivers with developmental activities for their children;

• 30 medical staff and 30 psycho-social staff in Librazhd Municipality will be trained on the developmental stages of children and early signs of of disability, as well as how to work with children with disabilities;

• 1500 young people between the ages of 12-18 will be supported with psycho-social activities;

• 60 mothers/caregivers of newborns will be trained on the developmental stages of children and early signs of disability;

• 60 farmers/families in need will be supported with income generation activities.

In addition to the services offered in the center, for every child or young person who lives in the remoted areas of Librazhd Municipality and who cannot access the service at the center, the mobile unit of this center will offer home therapy.
